I am having trouble setting the hook on texas rigged worms. I have fish bite, but i think they are just biting the tail. What should I do to get better at this?

When I first started using the Texas rig I had the same problem. First off, try a smaller worm if you have some. Secondly, when you feel the small bites just give it a second or two and then really set the hook. You will miss some here and there, but you'll get the hang of it. Then it will be much easier and you will far fewer fish.

You need to pause like kehoema said, but make sure your hooks are very sharp, and are shoved in there so they are right on the edge of sticking out of the worm.

they have covered it pretty well, let it sit longer and use a smaller worm. Also, be ready on the fall or when you let it sit, that's when they hit it the most!

Also, try hooking the side of the worm and not down the middle. There will be less worm filling the gap of the hook.

when you feel the "tap-tap" grab the line just above the spool with your left hand and gently pull on it to make it tight and try to feel if he's got the bait. you'll feel the fish put tension on the line or you'll feel more tap-taps. be patient until you know he's got it. when the line is tight, set the hook and hold on!
