Is it legal to use live bluegills as bait in CT? Is the rule different for private ponds?

Yes, but you should read the regs. Go to the CT DEP webpage and find the anglers guide. They specifically ban the use of largemouth, smallmouth, pickerel, pike, trout, salmon, carp and goldfish for bait, but no bluegills.

Back in the dark ages baby Flounder were good Striped Bass bait. What do you use Bluegills for.
