Whoa, if you caught a state record largemouth, why do you need advice? Just keep doing what you're doing, and conservatively add to your arsenal.
If you want to do any better, you may have to move to another state...
Seriously, why would you ask for advice if you caught a state record?
Sounds like your useing the right stuff!!!! congrats on the state record
trout1996,
Congratulations on your catch and can you post a picture on your state record Largemouth. We love to see it, if you don't mind!!!
And he asked for advice? H*ll he should give some.
Sounds like you have got things under control and definately going in the right direction! Keep up the good work and post some pics!
well trout1996 i personally have caught nothing over 7 pounds. I have been bass fishing for the last 25 years and have been tournament fishing for the last 12 years. I have consistently caught more big fish on lures such as buzzbait, crankbait, jerkbait, spinnerbait, and jig. Don't listen to these other guys giving you these smart ass comments they are just jealous because they can't they can't catch any big fish. Remember fish hard and sleep when your dead.
Well the bigger the bait the bigger the fish. I've always found that the clich knot is the best it gets. I've never had it fail. A series 5 strike king crankbait also works great on points and ledges during this time.
When I am @ the fishing store, looking for bass lures, I go with my gut. If it looks like a bass would go for it, I get it. Sometimes they don't work, sometimes they do. You never know, but my piece of advice is to just go with your gut.
