I like to us a really small blue gill and throw it on the bed. They will usally hit the blue gill. I've had some luck with that.

Take and alkaseltzer tablet and bore a hole through the center with a 1/16 inch drill bit, you can do this by holding the bit in your fingers. Thread the alkaseltzer tablet and thread it onto you line, tie on a worm hook to fit the bait you choose and texas rig a large plastic worm or plastic lizard on hook. Use a crimp on sinker (1/4 ounce) to pin the alkaseltzer to the hook/bait.

Pitch this rig into the bed. The bass will react to the fizzing of the alkaseltzer as she thinks the "critter" is burrowing into her bed and inhale the bait.

crawfish or lizard baits. these are exactly what the bass are protecting their eggs from and they will hit them with a sense of purpose that you will notice very easily!

Ive had the most luck here in VA, at lakes like smith mountain, anna, claytor, and moomaw with the buoyant lizards texas rigged and a good stiff action rod.

Last year I used the Booyah chatterbait, and they just hammered it. The bait puts off a lot of vibrations so it induces a reaction strike from the bass

Bluegills go after bass beds pretty frequently, so any good bluegill imitator will get a lot of attention. A friend of mine swears by the storm wildeye plastic swimbaits in bluegill pattern. You often get a few hits from the bass trying to knock the fish away before they'll really bite onto it.

i use jigs and a texas rigged lizard. normally just pitch them to the bed and just work it in there. might have to throw to them a couple times.

Lizard baits work well they look like mudpuppies to bass that eat their eggs.
