The corner of a spotted bass' mouth does not extend past the eye like a largemouth's does. Also the scales around the eye (cheek scales) of a spotted bass are much smaller than the scales on the rest of the fish's body whereas the cheek scales on the largemouth bass are very similar in size to the scales on the rest of the body.

The tongue also has a rough patch or "tooth patch". The tongue on a largemouth is smooth.

Beekeeper and dgbroax are correct. The only thing I would add is spots don't have as big a mouth as spots do.

The spotted bass has a dorsal fin that is clearly connected, while the largemouth appears to have two separate fins.
