Yes, I'll typically use a limerick type hook (large eye) and slip it over the baits hook. I'll uses a piece of surgical tube threaded onto the baits hook after installation to hold the trailer in place.
I have used trailers on buzzbaits in the same manner that Beekeeper described and had good results. Another tactic that has worked well for me over the years is to slow my retrieve down when the fish are striking short. Also, many times if a fish hits short, don't give up,continue to reel the bait in a bit slower and don't set the hook when you hear/see the strike. Wait a split second until you can feel resistance, then set the hook. Hope this helps, good luck.

Sure I put one on my buzz baits all the time. They actually make a kit for it that you can buy at Dick's or Cabela's.
you should be using a trailer hook on your buzz baits. you will catch a lot ore than without.
I put the buzzbait on a swivel and hook a shortened size 2 snell hook on the swivel. works well for me

I do as beekeeper does and make my own. you can use surgical tube or if you want to get fancy, dip the eye into grip dip so that it holds
