Q:
what works best for freezing cold weather bass? the lake i fish is an old quarry and it has some some great drop off ledges to fish from and the water is crystal clear. and i can only fish it from the bank.

Spoons, spinnerbaits, worms, grubs. Slow roll spoons or spinnerbaits near the bottom or bounce Texas/Carolina rigged worms.grubs across the bottom.

Cgulls got some good suggestions. I also suggest football jigs slowly dragged and shaky heads.

Early in the season they will be very reluctant to bite so the old worm drowing will work the best. If later on when ice fishing use your typical ice fishing jigs. When ice fishing although I don't do it
very often I have caught alot of bass while targeting crappie and bgills with very small jigs.

Don't rule out using crank baits throwing parallel to the bank as much as possible depending on the layout of the quarry. Then football or finesse jigs worked slowly along the bottom.

Bass are lazy. I go with a natural looking soft plastic such as a worm.
