Get some senkos and rig them wacky style. Very simple to use, just cast it out, let it sink and if you don't have a fish on after the first sink, twitch it up and let it sink again. Also, another easy to use bait that works for bass is inline spinners, or rooster tails as Scottie said. There are tons of various lures that catch bass. Just try some out and you should have some luck
You will have more fun, and a greater sense of accomplishment if you use artificial lures rather than live bait. Surface lures are very effective in the Spring. Try them all, and have a variety ready in the tackle box for a change whenever one of them is ineffective.
late in the afternoon break out a strike king three blade buzz bate that is the go to on the small farm ponds around here in NC also hula poppers and senkos
i agree with everything I see here :)I love fishing for pond bass and usually use rooster tail spinners or whacky style plastic worms. A great place to cast these is along the edge of the pond as the fish like to gather there to catch frogs,bugs,etc...there
For finicky bass try some worms, lizards frogs and speed craw. I like Zooms speed craws. Speed craws rigged weedles with a Mustad #5 mega bite hooks can be fish as a topwater or with a split shot added as a bottom crawfish. I catch more fish with this rig than all other baits. Topwater baits like Super Spook jrs, Jitter Bugs, buzz baits and chug bugs work great.
In addition to all these excellent suggestions, use light line such as 6lb. test, maybe even four, and fish really early and really late---almost fishing in the dark. Tight lines.
I have a dozen ponds full of bass.. Ive used everything. Ihave the most fun w blue fox spinners. buy them by the 6 or 8 pack at wal mart. garanteed to work on bass bream and crappie.
Live bait, worms, leeches, crawfish etc. mix it up to find which one works the best and if none do try switching to a rattle trap or a small-medium spinner to bring in the big one
