Depends on where you are fishing and the time of year. For instance in farm ponds during the summer the setup i have had the most luck with is a bubble gum worm on a wacky rig
Plastic worms of different sizes, shapes and colors are my go-to lures. Crankbaits and spinners let you cover a lot of water and topwater baits are the most fun when the conditions are right. You have to kind of match your colors and patterns to what bait is the most prevalent (frogs vs. shad) and what the water and weather conditions are on any given day. That's why bass fishermen have such big tackle boxes.

Try plastic worms and lizards they work great! Also top waters are very good early morning and late evening/after dark.

I agree with BearElement5 but the trick worm in white is my favorite
My go to lure for the summer is a bubblegum or pumpkinseed zoom trick worm
Plastic worms. My favorite is a crawdad color for the rocky bottoms up in the Northern lakes and streams.
