Q:
Here's a Q for all mid-west area river fisherman: About now I'm starting to think this might be my last week to get on the river before temps drop below 60s for good and its just too cold for me. If I spend the money on a pair of insulated waders so I can keep fishing...how long does good/decent fishing last into the winter?

October is a great month for top water action for smallies if you can bare fighting the leaves.
Thanks buckhunter, I was out this evening and its about as cold as I can take in shorts. Couldn't feel my toes by the time I got out. I don't know if I'll invest in waders this season, but I'll keep that in mind.
the fishing is good as long as you can fish...some of the bigger fish you'll catch throughout the year come in the colder months...as long as there isn't too much ice to fish, it's good
As long as the water temp is above 50, the bass should remain pretty active. They tend to get a little sluggish once the temp goes below 50 but you can still catch them.
