Bass can be caught 24hrs a day, 365 days a year and are distributed pretty much all over the continental United States. I personally have caught the majority of my bass that were ten pounds or over at night in cold weather using a Texas rigged black worm.
For me it depends on weather but my favorite time to fish for bass is when the sun rises. It seems like I always catch them eating breakfast and if they ain't biting, I have all day to catch them. At night without any moon light using a Jitterbug is probably my second favorite. Good luck
