I've heard the term used 2 different ways, the first being what rdorman said, suppose you are looking down (under water) a main lake point and a smaller point branches off to the left or right, this is a secondary point.

I've also heard people say secondary point when they are referring to something like... suppose a point(s) creates a bay-like area and that area also has a smaller point inside from a creek bed or something.

A secondary point is underwater that generally is connected to the first point, a shelf. Fish that are feeding move onto these points, depending on a host of things, weather, wind direction, depth, structure.

If you pick up fish on the primary point, stay there until the bite stops or change lures.
Where the secondary point comes together with the primary point, is one of the places you will want to make a couple of casts, as this is the area where the fish come back to and spend a lot of time if the conditions are right. It also is usually a little deeper than the shelf of the secondary point.
