Rudy, I don't like getting skunked any better than the next guy but hell in order to fish you must be off work, you must be outside, you must be on or near the water. Sounds like a good day to me.
Agreed with Jim. Although not catching anything is extremely frustrating you are outside on the water enjoying yourself. Usually when I get skunked I dont let it bother me and I think about what I can do next time to catch them.
Remember what your doing-- FISHING. It's not called CATCHING. Sometimes you get skunked, like Jim said, at least your outdoors. "My worst day fishing is better than my best day at work" not sure who said that, but they were smart.
just enjoy being outside on the water with nothing to worry about. if youre not having a good time, fish or no fish, then you should find something eles to do.
I look around me at the scenery, my companions, etc and ask myself if I would have rather been at work or perhaps laid up with some injury or illness and it all gets into proper perspective quickly. It's not about the catching, it's about the doing.
you just start planning the next trip and hopefully have more luck. Also what I do is maybe fish for something else such as panfish because there usually in abundance.
I slash my wrist but unfortunately both of mine are getting so callussed that it doesn't do any good anymore. Just kidding... Its always great being out their trying. Some days are much better than other for catching fish but every day is pure delight if you pay attention to the beauty that presents itself in every river, lake and stream.
Everyone gets skunked, like me, I've walked 5 miles to a dam, and not caught anything at all, but on other days, you have all the luck in the world...It's all up to God if you catch fish or not.
Enjoy it either way. A bad day fishin is better than a good day at work. And when you decide to head in for the day at least you were able to relax and be doing something that you love to do.

Thank you guys for all the comments you had given me........
I think about work, and the fact that I could be looking at a computer instead of being river or lake side.
I just think about how lucky I am to be spending the day out on a beautiful lake with my family, whether I catch fish or not

Any day fishing is better than work. (Unless your a pro fisherman :-) )
I remember ALL of the fish that got away, but only remember a few of the ones I caught.
Every day is a lesson for me,whether I catch anything or not,as I'm a student of the woods and water!
