Q:
Two quick research questions for everyone here who has an iPhone/smartphone/cellphone with a camera. 1.) Do you ever use your phone to take pictures of fish you've caught? 2.) If so, we'd love to hear a rough estimate of how many such photos you take with your phones each year. Thanks!

Generally everytime I go fishin'!
I just got a new phone so NO pictures are on there yet.
1.) YES
2.) Roughly take 200 pictures or more, then I upload them to my computer, and save the best/biggest/prettiest fish to my cell phone to show to friends and acquaintances.
1) Yes take pictures
2) Just a handful, normally take pics on days I am playing hookey from work and buddies are not, like to text them a pic to rub it in that I am fishing/hunting and caught/harvested something.
I have a phone but never use it for photos 'cause I carry a digital camera that is much better.
Always take my phone with me. I take photos to send to my buddys, just to brag a little.
I'm like Del, I always take my camera. However, I recently got a phone with a camera almost better than my actual camera, so I'm likely to be using it quite a bit for those unique moments.
1. yes
2. everything i shoot or catch ~40
Agreed with Del in KS answer above and A + 1 for you sir!!!
1 Have a cell phone\Have about 100 Pics on it but2 Are Deer Head Mounts, about 20 of my dogs,5 of the wife's cat,10 of a very good lady friend,5 of my Congresslady, several of the house & grounds and inside for insurance, I add and delete frequently.
I mostly use my cell phone for pictures. The only problem is it is not a newer phone so I cant download the pics. I usually delete them after showing friends and family. I take anywhere from 75-150 pictures (F&S related) a year depending on how things are going for me
always take pics with my phone. usually close to 2 hundred a year. i send them to my email and text them to my girls in alaska. once on my email i can put them on my myspace page and send to people in other states. we like to trade and see how eachother are doing.
1.Yes
2.All the good size fish me or my friends catch, so probably like 30
1) I sure do. Fish and Game
2) I would say only around 10-15 a year because it is what I use when I forget my camera which isn't too often.
I have a friend who uses his phone for nearly every picture when we're out hunting or fishing.. I'd say he's in the 200-300 a year range.
I take pictures with my iPhone on every hunt. Have not taken it fishing yet.
Probably 100 per year, of which I'll keep 20-ish.
Zero. Resolution is low so I don't bother. With slippery hands the camera phone would also end up drowning. But ... some of the newer ones are getting better. Now if they will only make them waterproof.
I always bring my phone in the woods, mainy for the Camera. I'd prefer a better photo but tha phone packs easily. I's say i take 2 dozen hunting and fishing photos per year.
MLH you can buy a waterproof one! i take about 50 pictures a year hunting related and 100 fishing related
Yes if I carry it (I carry a waterproof camera wading)
And about 50 or so a year. I have a nice cannon power shot I use when i can, it takes better pictures.
havent taken my phone fishing yet i just got it for christmas!
1.I sure will!
2.I'll get anything big, pretty or unusuall, but I usually have my camera.
Yes, I do take photos with my phone. I send them out to my buddies and let them know what they're missing.
If we are only talking fish, I would say that my tally would run around 40 fish photos/year.
I do have a cell phone but it is not a camera phone. When I did have a camera phone I did not use the camera very much. It just did not take the quality pictures I wanted and I also did not have any way to download the micro SD card that it used.
Yes, I do use my phone for fish photos.
I only take one or two a year when I forget my digital camera.
yes i do use my phone
about 10 or so but if its a big fish i use the digital camera
I dropped my Olympus digital at one of my stands in Colorado last October. I hope I zipped the ziploc bag and can find it this year!
I have pictures on my phone of maybe a half dozen fish...I normally too excited to remember to take pictures so when I do it is normally of a ridiculously small fish so I can send back to my buddy at a later date to mock the size of his fish. All in good fun of course they dish right back at me.
1-yes a phone with a low quality camera
2-yes quite often
3-maybe 40 times a year, this is my only camera so i use it when need be.
would be better if they made a phone with a better quality camera that the average person could afford.
i take them when i can go fishing and my buddies cant then i send the picture to them to rub it in and if a catch a nice sized fish
I have a cell phone w/ a camera
1- I take a lot of fish pics w/ it becasue I don't have a digital camera
2- probably 50 per year
My iPhone is my primary camera right now.
1)Yes, fishing and hunting
2)Probably 100+ photos per year(not all of fishing)
My phone does not have a camera function. Phones don't even get service in most of the places I hunt. I have an Olympus digital with 10X zoom, and a Minolta 35mm with built in zoom. I find that cameras generally take better pictures than the ones I see on phones, and now that every one hour photo can turn 35 mm into digital, I use the 35 mm a lot more, because it gives me photos in places I don't have a computer. The 35 mm resides in my hunting box. The Bookkeeper recently confiscated the digital, so I am looking for a compact, zoom capable, rough service replacement. Probably another Olympus. I take more hunting than fishing pix, due to the risks of having a camera on a boat, but will probably be sticking the 35 mm in the tackle box more. Number of pix a year is probably 75 -100.
I carry a small digital Fuji camera. Size and quality way much better than my phone.
I take pictures with my LG Shine Phone. It has a Micro SD card and the pictures can be saved to my Laptop.
I have a camera on my phone and yes I've used it to take pictures of fish that my son has caught and i've coaught last summer. It's convenient and easily stored in a pocket. It has 2.0 megapixel camera.
I've even taken pics when I was scouting an area during archery season.
1) Yes
2) Maybe 5 at most. I try to carry my digital camera with me just because the quality of the pictures are so much better. But if i happen to forget the camera I use my phone..just so everyone beleives me when I say a caught the monster fish!!
I have my cell with me every time I go fishing, I probably took close to 30 pics of fish last year, and 1 so far this year that is uploaded onto your site already..
