i live in alabama and i am a fly fisher. i usually fish on the mountain and fish for bream and bass. the flies i use arent that effective. got any advise for me. i mostly use poppers.
I tie my own flies all the time and i really notice that panfish eat all insects year-round.Poly-winged spinners are my my #1 go to fly all year for trout and panfish, however if its bass you want try a small clouser on a #10 size hook. the clousers occaisionally pick up some panfish.Give daves hopper a ttry for both!
Match the hatch, means match the fly to what the fish are feeding on. If the fish are feeding on small minnows then a streamer will get ya strikes. I catch bass on wooly boogers and small rat flys. For the smaller fish, any insect looking fly should work well.
