yes i've done it for bass and browns on calm water, i picked calm spots near under cut banks on large streams and twitched it along in the slow current. Bass i fished reeds at night. you can genrally hear the strikes. My ideal conditions would be full moon just so you can see where your casting. Early spring i scout spots on the streams and try them at night for browns. they work (maybe not as well) during the day I've just had good luck with browns at night and at dusk.
Went mousing in Maryland this summer. Caught a bunch of bows and a couple smallmouth. Lots of fun. I think it always helps to have a little bit of moon.
Somebody want to elaborate here? After watching the swamp men last night catching snakes and frogs, I was imagining going thru the fields looking for deer mice at first.
007 its suspected that many top water frogs are hit because they actually mimic the movement mice make in the water and frogs are smart in open water only moving when the water is stirred and remaining completely calm when it is not. where as a mouse when in the water makes a disturbance and moves alot. Mousing is one of my favorite types of fishing big browns and steelies in areas where theres is alot of grass cover around the river.
