A fly rod must not only be able to handle the size of the fish but also cast the fly you are using. Assuming you are striper fishing in saltwater, you must also fight the wind.
I feel a 10 wt would be a good size.
And that's the problem. Folks posting, and I am guessing they are mostly young, do not give enough details where, and how, etc. I've fished stripers in Lake Powell using a 6wt. You can't answer questions with any degree of accuracy given the lack of info you get on this thread.
here in new york, it would be a good idea to go no lower than a 8wt. 10 might be better, though.
