cut bait, punch bait, and stink bait. catfish will eat the same things no matter where they live since they are a bottom feeding species.
when you say river, is it brackish? the Indian river, really a lagoon between the mainland and coastal barrier Islands, has great Blue channel cats, and I had great success with live shrimp 2 ft. off a sinker on the bottom.
The river is fresh water and do any artificial lures work?
I use hot dogs to great effect.
