Q:
I was fishing this past weekend at Salt Fork State Park without much luck when someone on the boat accidently dropped some cool ranch dorittos in the water. About 10 seconds later channel cats started to come up to feed on them so we poked some holes in the dorritos and threw them in and started to catch some nice cat fish. Who else has caught some fish using unconventional bait.

My little brother caught catfish off of apricots, Once I had to dip a cigarette but I found lying on the ground into stink bait because I didn't have any dip baits, It worked pretty well.

I know a guy that fattens his pond bass with hot dogs. If you want to catch one of the big ones it's what you use. But it felt like using dogs was cheating so just used something else.

Using small chunks of hot dogs under a bobber is about the best thing to do if you want to get a kid hooked on fishing.

Watched my nephew catch a 3.5 lb crappie on "Bubble-Yum" once, we'd ran out of minnows. NOT A "FISHING STORY".

I have caught channel cats and largemouth bass on trident and orbit gum.

I have also caught several fish on beef jerky, vienna sausages, and soap (zote) it has animal fat in it and seems to attract catfish.

Buckeye,
I was just a tad North of you this weekend. I fished Leesville. I considered Salt Fork but we were kayaking.

I've heard of using boiled noodles to as worms or grubs. I've also caught bluegill on gummy worms and other things.
