Depend on the species I'm after... Crappie,Catch and eat,Bass, catch and release, catfish, catch and eat.. Perch jerkin is always a catch and release for me.Good luck!
A mixture of both. When thinning out a pond, I keep all the male bass that I catch and release all the large females. But in the rivers, I release most of the bass I catch. I catch enough other fish to eat and even put a few in the freezer because of the area I am in. I can be fishing in a local river within five minutes of my home which during different seasons has big specks, reds, stripers, and flounders. Most species of fresh water fish are in the river year round. I am just fifteen minutes from a big saltwater bay and thirty minutes away from the Gulf so I have over a hundred species of fish less than an hour from my home. Fish is a food that was meant to be eaten. When Christ feed the mulitudes it was with fish and he even ate a meal of fish AFTER he was resurrected from the dead.
Crappie, catfish, and perch I almost always keep at least some, unless I just don't feel like cleaning fish that night. Trout I sometimes keep, and sometimes release, depending on where I am fishing. I will often limit out and then keep fishing, releasing any I catch. With bass it is always catch and release unless the fish is obviously too injured to survive. It doesn't happen often with artificials, but occasionally one will swallow a texas rig, or get badly foul hooked on a topwater.
Both I keep any panfish of good size, I usually keep bass in the mid size range nothing to big nothing to small, keep most catfish and keep any legal walleye.
I eat alot of what I catch. When I fish I like to see my efforts rewareded with enough fish to feed my family. I do, however, fish for muskies more than anything else, and I like to release these beautiful fish. I keep a few medium size fish a year, but I love to let the breeders go so my future children can enjoy whatr I have been blessed with.
Depends on place, species, and size. for example, if I'm fishing a pond with too many panfish, and not enough big catfish, only keep panfish and small cats. I hate to see when people take big fish from small ponds because they are ruining the place for the rest of us.

Bass-strictly catch and release. I dont mind keeping some other species, but i never catch em lol
I eat my trout I catch.
I am wondering if it will someday become a fad for catch and release deer hunting with tranquilizers...
Depends what kind of fishing Im doing & where. However mainly catch and release.
Both. It depends where I'm fishing and what species I'm after. It's beat a meal of fresh fish after a day on the water.
I usually release them into real hot peanut oil, and catch them again when they float to the top.
