Q:
The other day when I was creek fishing with my dad, we caught rock bass after rock bass, but not many smallmouth bass. It made me question if rock bass good to eat. So are they good to eat? What size is considered a "keeper"? And is there any good recipes for them? Thanks for the help!

never kept any. biggest I ever caught was about 12-13". I would guess you fix them anyway you fix smallmouth or largemouth
I have eaten rock bass before and I thought they tasted pretty good. It was mixed in with bluegills (all fried) and I couldn't tell which was which. We caught them on Table Rock Lake where there is a 9" length requirement(and a daily limit of 15).
Are far as what size you can keep, that would depend on what state you're in. Consult your state's regulations.
In WV there isn't a size limit but start with 8 to 9 inch rock bass and like someone said you can't tell them from bluegills. They are fine eating. I like to roll mine in corn meal and fry them.
yes
they are great eating. just treat them like any other panfish. fried is the best
