Q:
Hello:
I am just wondering what to do about bow fishing in the state of Wisconsin. I am fairly new to this sport and was wondering if bow fishing for carp in March will be productive? The Wisconsin river is mostly clear of ice, but the back waters are still froze. any tips for making my trip more successful would be greatly appreciated!

I think you'll have more luck in May/June when carp move into the shallows to spawn and as the summer goes on and water levels drop and clear. If you know of a place you can see them in March though, give it a shot.
the time to shoot carp is when they are in pre spawn and spawning. We call it mudding they will be in groups rolling in the mud spawning. this is when it is best to shoot carp because they are higher in the water table, less skittish, and preoccupied.
yea I started last year bow fishing and had a blast from spring through late fall, I just have a itch for doing it again. Would you know where the carp would be this time of the year in the river? like in pools, along the shore or in the deeps?
the warmest water.
