You'd be better off spending just a little more if you want a baitxasting combo that will last and serve you well. Academy sports, bass pro, Gander Mtn or Cabelas carry the Shimano Citca (think thats the name) combo for 110. I use mostly Shimano and Abu Garcia baitcasting reels but other reel makers are making just as long lasting and quality reels these days. Spend the extra money, it'll bring you better bearings (smoother operation, longer cast and longer lasting) better gears. For Bait casting i like Castaway, Allstar and American Rodsmiths rods in medium heavy to heavy. I want a rod with backbone when I go to set the hook or to horse a 10 lb largemouth out of brushpile. A 50.00 baitcasting combo's reel will have no bearings and the spool will have a poor drag and will wear out in a year or 2.
Advantages are more leverage, better control of the cast ans often the bait, better close range accuracy and a more comfortable set up to fish most any non finnesse technique.
