Q:
I have recently started fly fishing, the results are so good that I am kind of getting discouraged with spinning rod fishing. Do's any one have any advice to push me to get my spinning rod out?

Nope. Stick with a fly rod. I have not picked up a spinning rod for years, and I am only 17. But I am pretty sure I will only use a fly rod for the rest of my life. It is just so thrilling, and not everyone uses them, so it almost makes me feel, well, more advanced than my school buddies.

That is exactly what I was thinking, but i would like to use my spinning because I put allot of money into lures and my rod. But I am in love with my fly rod as well.

I take all my rods out with me. Have a trolling setup that i put out and drag behind while usin the fly rod and the spinning in turn. depends where I am and what i am going for. I love all kinds of fishin so I combine them as much as possible! Dont give up on any of them!

I love using a spinning rod to fly fish small streams where I cannot get enough room to use a fly rod. I fish with bead head nymphs (usually size 12 or 14), spider wire stealth braided 10 lb test fishing line, with about 2 feet of 6lb test tippet material, and a telescoping spinning rod. It's the perfect setup for small streams.

Use what you are enjoying most. Don't throw away the lures, though. It's a different style, and you may come back to it. Even if you don't, you can sell them as antiques in a few years.

I use spinning rods, but I've never use a fly rod. Spinning rods are easy to cast and have more of a variety of baits and lures.
