Q:
So what say you? A Georgia man catches a 103lb flathead catfish which is 20lbs more than the state record. Then is told it is not a state record because he was jug fishing and it had to be caught with a rod and reel. Check out the story at http://www.ajc.com/sports/georgia-man-lands-huge-119623.html

And it shouldn't be consider the record, because fishing records are rod and reel caught fish only.

Good call. That's how it's supposed to be. What if he'd used dynamite?

Could stand as unrestricted tackle for some time.

That sucks for the would-be record holder! But rules are rules!

It will still be the all tackle record. But it must be caught with a rod & rell to qualify for the official state record.

I dont even keep those tough old and wormy big ones, I throw em back. Yea if I thought it may be a state record, I'd meet a wildlife officer at the post office to weight the fish, but I would be sure to keep the old time well oxygenated and alive while transporting.

ya tie a 50lb or better test line to a jug, tie on a good circle hook and a weight and toss a 10-30 o these out and wait for em to start bobbin up and down. then go out and get your fish.. like limb lines but are free floating and wrks great below dams.

About time a state goes by the rules. The only good catch of a fish is with a rod & a lure not with live bait.
