Q:
I know I'm a little ahead of myself thinking about ice fishing and all but I have. Question that I have been thinking about for a while now. When ice fishing walleye, if I find fish in one spot in say December, will they still be there a month or so later?

I doubt it. Can't count on that in the summer so I don't see why they'd do it in the winter.

It really depends on the lake that you're fishing. Fish usually move where the bait moves. Some lakes that I fish the walleyes are there from first ice until the middle of March when they move to breeding areas and other lakes they seem to move all winter long. They usually like to follow drop-offs or the edges of weed beds and the thickness of the ice can sometimes make them go deeper. Knowing the lake and the structure underneath will help you find the fish no matter what time of year your fishing. If you're not familiar with the lake maps are available and if you have a flasher you can always punch and flash until you find the fish then it's a matter of getting them to bite. Good Luck.
