Q:
Colored Gamakatsu Octopus hooks for walleye? I picked up some chartreuse yellow octopus hooks at my local big-box outdoors store. Anyone fish a simple drop rig with colored hooks and shiners or leeches for walleye? Any advantage/disadvantage to colored hooks?

I haven't tried the octopus hooks yet but I tie my own live bait snells for walleyes using the Gamakatsu hooks that are red. They work well and are very sharp. I seem to get more bites witgh them but it is hard to say how much better the color might make them.
I haven't for walleye, but some people were swearing by the red gamakatsu worm hooks for bass fishing. I bought a pack and didn't notice any significant difference in my catch rate or the size of fish I was getting vs on the black ones. The red wore off after a couple fish anyways, and they are gold underneath. Also didn't notice much difference once it turned gold except I started getting more little nips from pan fish.
