Q:
Hey guys i am looking at the g. loomis walleye series rods, and i am looking at the vertical jig rod that is 6"3 but i prefer at least a 7 foot rod for jigging, so i went into my local dealer and they have a 7"6 ML rod for live bait rigging, but my question is a ML rod to light for the occasional pike, also is it to light for 3/8 ounce jigs. i am going to canada with a couple of friends to do some fishing and we usually use heavier jigs. Any info would be great. thanks

I use a ML rod almost exlusively for pike here in Minnesota. You can feel there strikes easy and the rod easily takes a beating the pike dishes out. I use a ML Quantom setup and it works great. I use it for pike, bass, walleye and a even sturgeon in the St. Louis river.
Okay so I live in canada and I fish mostly eyes with a 5'11 ML rod and I use 3/8th ounce jigs all the time. There is no problems with a rod like the one I have and I've caught some 31 32 inch northerns and the thrashing was nothing. so I d say that your set up would be perfect.
