According to the June/July issue of Outdoor Life magazine, the Strike King 10XD crankbait achieved a depth of 24.8 feet in a recent test.

The Mann's Depth Plus Series came in second at 24.1 feet.

The poorest showing was achieved by Megabass Deep-Six at 13.8 feet, against an advertised depth of 19+ feet.

BTW, honorable mention is due to Luck-E-Strike RCD2 Freak (21.9 ft.), Spro Little John DD (20.8 ft.) and Rapala DT-20 (20.4 ft.).

Deep diving crankbaits have a larger lip up front which creates a larger down force on the lure. These freshwater lures are designed to dive from anywhere from 8 to 20 feet below the surface, using a lighter line will help the lure to dive even deeper and provide for more vibration.

Good Luck!

I use Mann's +25 with 20lb Spiderwire to hit 30 foot depths. It is my top striper lure in that it runs right below the thermocline most of the time. A great striper lure but I catch a lot of big large mouth bass and grouper on it too.
