Q:
In my quest for the perfect ultralight spinning rod, most of the ones I have found (Cabelas.com, basspro.com, dickssportinggoods.com) are more suited for beginners than experienced fishermen. Anyone know a good brand for ultralights? A particular model?

I have an uglystik lite an I love it. Has cork handle, strong(its an ugly),and very sensitive. Check it out,I'm sure you'll like it. I had mine for years and still the only one I use. Save your money don't buy over priced junk. Price dosent put fish in the boat!My reel on it is basspro mega cast.

I have two St.Croix ultralites (4.5 & 5'). Love them. Also i have a Flueger 5 footer rod/reel combo that was fairly cheap and works well.

St.Croix Rods. Shimano Reels. Stren Line. The most dependable durable combination that you could ever hope for. Good Luck.

I have used a Falcon 6 ft. UL with a Mitchell 310 for several years. I use 4 and 6 lb test, depending on the water I am fishing. Shimano, Penn and Pfleuger all make good UL reels. I have used and still use a Pfleuger Purist 6.5 ft fly rod, 5 wt, with an open face reel and have had excellent results with bluegill, crappie and yellow perch. Hope this helps.
