Q:
I was fishing today and hoped that the fish had moved up the resevoir(small) and towards the feeder stream...so they would be shallow...not many made the move...they were all still deep i believe..i don't have a sonar unit...any suggestions on reading deeper water without one?

A couple of solutions are to use deep diving crankbaits rated for various depths. It's not perfect but works OK. Otherwise you can use sinking lures and count them down. Both are relatively crude and time consuming so try and make sure you are on decent structure first. Finally you can use a line with a weight and depth markings but that gets really tedious in deep water. Good luck.
