I had a Mercury 9.9 for years that was a great little motor.

Get a Mercury or Evinrude. Get a newer one that is fuel injected and you'll be served well for years. Stay away from foreign produced gear if at all possible.

plus 1 Kenton the Mercury is still running strong after 20 years of use, but I would read reviews on other brands before I purchased a 25hp, or larger.
