I try to go fishing as often as I can which has been three to four times a week. With the easing up of the hot weather I will fish even more. For most of the summer I have only beem fishing at very early hours or very late hours depending on the tide. This has been because of the heat which my health can not stand too well. The speckled trout are in my local river now at the lower end and I will be fishing for them some almost every day.
The last time I looked at the "Creek", I saw a 25 pound flat head walking down the creek carrying a bucket of water!!! LOL!!!!
If you can find water here in the Great Southwest, you best save it for drinking!
It all depends on where you are at. I just left Florida where it is still pretty warm. Alot of hunters prefer to wait for the colder weather to catch the deer moving.
Are you kidding! Striper season is just beginning here on the east coast for many of us. The Brooklyn fishing derby began yesterday, bkuaa.com. As a fly fisherman from the west coast I was very happy to move here and discover the surf casting cult of the eastern seaboard. fishermen here sit around all summer polishing weapons (rods, reels and rigs) and decking out their 4x4's for beach driving. You'd think they scorn summer in anticipation for the fall.
i wish i could trade my pole for camo, but being at school i cant hunt much....however, the salmon and steelhead fishing is amazing around here so the rod will be in my hands for a majority of october and early november.
I caught 5 silvers yesterday on the fly rod. Only one was a dark fish. Nothing but three pinks this morning. I am headed home from Ak Oct 10th. Should be great fun driving through Alberta, Sask & Manatoba watching the ducks geese and cranes as they mass in the sky and over the fields. I'll probubly throw some pollywogs tomorrow as the rain has held off for three whole days and the river is extremely fishable right now. Duck season opens in NY Oct 25. Glock and I will be ready.
I went fishing on Friday and Saturday. DNR just did a fall stocking of rainbows, and I love getting out in the cold water. Time is definitely tight, being in school and working, and fishing just takes less prep time (no scouting, etc.) and less cleanup time afterwards.
I landed 12 silvers yesterday. I lost at least 6, and missed a bunch of fish. My wrist hurts. That was the best flyfishing day of my life in terms of the number of big fish caught in an afternoon. Glock had a good time too.
I try to pry myself away from the woods to fish in the fall. The fish are really feeding good this time of the year, much like a bear their feeding up for a long winter!
