I have caught most of my fish on a falcon ultralight. i have caught an 8 pound walleye.,5 pound bass, even a snook. i too enjoy going as light as possible for the jacks you will be fine but those bluefish teeth are very hard fighting and have very sharp teeth.

A light rod is fine for blues and jacks. You just need to have a good drag on the reel and play them. Blues are not that bad, but a jack can be like reeling in a bullbozer. I caught an over 80# Amberjack and a 30# Jack Crevalle on my SuperCaster - baitcaster on a 5'2" light action carbon fiber rod. The Cavalla pulled as hard as the Amberjack. But both were fun. I am catching 20 -28# reds right now on the same light action rods.
