Last week in the Sea of Cortez, an 88 (eighty-eighty)lb rooster was caught.
In May of 2009, I fished the East Cape of Baja. Target species...Wahoo, Trigger Fish, Dorado and the Rooster. We all caught 55 to 60lb out of a tonga fishing boat on the fly rod. Fly into Cabo San Lucas and take the shuttle to your resort and...fish on!
Meant to say, an average weight for the East Cape Rooster is 55 to 60lbs. Sorry.
Rooster fish can reach over 4 feet in length and over one hundred pounds. The weight of the average fish hooked is about 20 pounds. The fish is popular as a game fish, but like most fish in the jack family (besides the amberjack and California yellowtail) it is not considered a good eating fish.
Thanks guys, we caught an 89lb rooster and I just wanted to see how it was compared to others
