Through movie magic, Elvis did it with a diaper pin and a cane pole as in the video featured in the blog section. But from what I am told, you can fish from an old bridge/pier in Tampa bay for a small fee which even includes the fishing license. I personally would check with a local guide though to learn more about tarpon fishing in the area before hand. Any size and type of fish including 600 pound sharks can be caught on custom fly rods.

you can catch them from shore...if they are running the beaches close enough...very long cast...need some rediculous amounts of line...as santa was referencing the skyway pier is a semi-likely spot to catch them...they have been there for a little bit now and show up regularly...the best time is the strongest tide of the day...usually full moon or new moon...the skyway is a spot that consistently holds fish...but they don't sell the bait you'll need...crabs, threadfin, scaled sardines, pogey's...
