Im doing some surf fishing south of puerto vallarta mexico in a couple of weeks, i just like to know what kind of bait should i use for surf fishing and what to expect to catch?
I haven’t fished in that location, but have done a little surf fishing and can offer a couple tips. 1. Just about everything in the surf eats shrimp. Buy some live shrimp and keep them alive. If it’s a really slow day, you can boil the shrimp. 2. Bait from the surf can’t be beat. Buy a small cast net, learn to use it and catch your own bait – you’ll save money and have the best bait. Often you can walk the beach and spot schools of baitfish in the shallows, catch a bucketful with one throw. If you don’t see baitfish, you probably still can catch some by throwing blindly into the foam a little further out.
