Staying on Whidbey Island for a few days in washington. Any help on what/how/where/when to fish would be great! Live in Iowa so this is a little different. Saltwater or freshwater. Thanks.

Can't help with the fishing but I can help for dinner. Take the ferry to Mulkiteo and eat at the Diamond Knot restaurant.

Any handy dock or pier, (get permission,) rent a boat, or surf casting all of them work. Good luck! For free bait fiddler crabs almost always work. and you can
catch them easily when the tide is out.

Fresh water fishing ~ on the Island:
*Deer Lake
*Crockett Lake
*Cranberry Lake

Things to see/do on the Island:
*Hang ten at Joseph
Whidbey State Park...don't laught too hard at this, I've done it and it's a gas! Surf's up!
*Lunch at the Greenbank Lodge and buy something from the giftshop/general store on the property
*Have dinner or stay the night at Captain Whidbey's

Salt water fishing...The area opened by WFG July Ist for Chinook (Kings) and Tyee (Silvers)and try to hook the immature Jacks. You'll know these young ones by the blackmouth since they are resident fish of the area.

The Marina will charter an afternoon fish out for you.

Don't forget Camano Island, due East of you.

Don't forget Willipa Bay and those great oysters fresh every day along with shrimp of good size.

And then there's Deception Pass ~ too treacherous to fish here but worth the view.

Fort Casey and...there is alot on the Island for you, enjoy!

well it depends on if you want to eat the fish or catch and realease.
there are pleanty of fish to catch in the bay area there sand sharks, bullheads, and flounder are some. the sand shark is ok but what you really want is the flounder. i wouldnt eat the bullhead.
use a meadium action rod with 10-15 pound test. also use an ounce to 3 ounces od lead depending on the current.
use herring or anchovies.
