Panther Martins always work and yes I have tried it.
i would say just skip the worm. you cannot go wrong with a panther martin. yellow blade with red dots has always worked for me
Tried it in a small reservoir. Trolled a black and yellow spot #4 Panther Martin with a half nightcrawler attached behind my inflatable canoe. Hooked and landed my best brown trout ever out of that little lake.
