I am going to UP Michigan marquette In late september and would like to do some fishing for steelhead, trout, or salmon. i have a 10 ft rod and an ultralight both spinning reels and need help on what to use in small rivers and streams. what will be biting best during that time of year? thankyou!

the 10ft will be good for sticking line out over the hole and letting it drift down into the fish without spooking them with a splash or shadow, and the browns should be running out of the great lakes sometime close to then.

late september is early for salmon and steelhead to be in rivers, they are still out on the lakes usually until early-mid october. might get lucky and catch a few of the early runners but your main focus should be trout.

I've used egg sacks for ontario tributaries, Idk if michigan is much different feeding wise, but both should work fine, and if fishing for native rainbows and brookies, salted minnows always works well

I grew up in the western end of the U.P. and all I would ever use was Panther Martins or nightcrawlers with a tiny piece of split shot. Throw it above the pool and let it drift down through it.
