Q:
I am going to be going brown and rainbow trout fishing this summer and already have my tackle ready. But my question is what kind of line do i need on my ultra light rod. Weight,color etc.

2-4 pound flourocarbon works for me.

I use Trilene XL 6# clear on one rig, and the same in 8# on another.

If the area you are fishing isn't too rocky and full of snags you can't beat the Fluorocarbon lines.Cgull is right too, you want to stay with 2-4# test as wild trout are very line shy. If you have snags try using a heavier mono and tying on a leader of 2/4# with a barrel swivel anywhere from 18" to as much as 5 or 6 ' in length. make sure any weights you use are above the swivel. pss7 are a good starting point

I'm with crm3006, Trilene XL. The only difference is I use 4# on my ultra light outfit.

6 to 10 lb and i would use clear because trout are not stupid.

clear 4# mono is what I go with , but if you can get away with 2# that's better.
