I am going to be going brown and rainbow trout fishing this summer and already have my tackle ready. But my question is what kind of line do i need on my ultra light rod. Weight, color etc.
If the area you are fishing isn't too rocky and full of snags you can't beat the Fluorocarbon lines.Cgull is right too, you want to stay with 2-4# test as wild trout are very line shy. If you have snags try using a heavier mono and tying on a leader of 2/4# with a barrel swivel anywhere from 18" to as much as 5 or 6 ' in length. make sure any weights you use are above the swivel. pss7 are a good starting point

2-4 pound flourocarbon works for me.
do you have to use clear line?
2# clear for me, blue or green a second choice
I use Trilene XL 6# clear on one rig, and the same in 8# on another.

I'm with crm3006, Trilene XL. The only difference is I use 4# on my ultra light outfit.
I use 6lb vision flurocarbon on ultra light tackle
6 to 10 lb and i would use clear because trout are not stupid.
clear 4# mono is what I go with , but if you can get away with 2# that's better.
4-6 pound flouro, or mono for a little more distance at the cost of stealth
