King salmon and steelhead on the same line doesn't exactly equate the best, if i had to have just one i'd get a 9' medium action rod, i'd have it with 10 test, and i'd use fly fishing tippet...3X flurocarbon, seagar grand max has a 9.8 lbs breaking strength which is enough for king and it won't be too visible to picky steelhead

I've caught hundreds of 20-30 pound kings on Trilene XT 17 lb line tied to a 30# swivel and 17-20lb 3-5 foot leader for trolling. I use Trilene XL in the same weight if I am casting. Sometimes I tie directly to the lure. I usually use 9 foot medium rods. I use this for steelhead too since the steelhead may go over 20 pounds too. Sharpen your hooks and test your knots. These guys hit at 20 MPH and like to run for over 100 yards when they hit. Good fishing.
