live minnow, hands down. If there are trout in the lake I'll fish it 5-6 feet below the ice. If there are walleye in the lake I'll fish it a couple of feet off the bottom.
Sourdough's got it nothing beats the movement of a live minnow. Fake bait only use it when jiggin i like the miny mite and the swedish pimple. Rapala makes a nice jigging rap had good luck with it small northern and one walleye on the clown colored.
I like glow in the dark jigs with Wax Worms. I also like to jig swedish pimples and Kastmasters
Minnows where they are legal and native to the waters being fished.

I like to run a Swedish pimple hooked through the tail of a small sucker on my tip-ups when fishing northern pike and a walleye minnow on a glow jig for perch and walleyes.
