Q:
I was just curious if it made any difference for waders as far as if I could use my hunting waders for fly fishing? Would it matter if I used my hunting waders?

Depends if you want them sent free or not?

In Alaska, I used the same hip waders for everything.

I would say it owuld not matter as long as you do not mind using them for both. They both serve the same purpose.

If they keep the water out and you in they should get the job done in either application.

I don't think the fish would know the difference.

no, i'm guessing your hunting waders are neoprene, might be a little hot in the summer, but then you could always wade in shorts...

Waders are waders. What will vary is the level of comfort and durability based on your surroundings.

The only reason I would say it does make a difference is because if your duck wadders are like mine they are pretty well insulated and made for more setting around and staying warm. My fishing waders are pretty light and not as insulated. So if they are insulated you may get a little hot. But like 99explorer said the fish aren't going to know the difference.

thanks guys, the only reason i ask is because this past summer i picked up fly fishing and didnt know if it was really necessary to go out and spend a decent amount of money on waders. my question was more so aimed at what you guys thought. I figured either would work but wanted to know if anyone doubled over or their opinions on it. so thanks for the help guys!

I fish in uninsulated, breathable waterfowl hunting camo waders. The boot feet are the only insulated part. I bought them because they were on sale and had a much bigger chest pocket than most of the fishing specific waders. i can layer for steelhead fishing in the late fall/winter/early spring and not overheat at the beginning and end of the season when the water is warmer

I used my breathable waterfowl bootfoot waders for fly fishing my first season. I forgot them one day and used my buddy's spare pair of stockingfoot breathable waders, and went out and baught a pair a week later. When you have to hike for miles on trout streams the stockingfoot waders with seperate boots are much more comfortable.
