Q:
I need to get a new atv...it's for duck hunting so I can get out to the blind...I don't need it for rough terrain but I do need to drive through water. Any suggestions? A large one is preferable because sometimes I need to fit two people on it and we have a lot of crap to carry to the blind.

Walk instead. It'll keep you younger and richer. Also helps the dogs get settled down. I carry my deeks in a big bag with pack straps. All my junk is in there too. A few years back I invested in sling and swivels for my 870 pump and that made a BIG difference. However, I always detach it and put it in the bag once I'm set up to shoot. If I'm still humping it out across the fields and muck a couple of miles at age fifty-seven, I guess a young stud like you can do it too. You oughta see how many miles I put in every year chasing pheasants. The trips out with decoys have put me in pretty good shape by the time rooster season opens. If you stay off the crotch rocket and use your legs you might still be pulling down geese when you're my age.

The situation you described seems like the perfect place for an ARGO. They have room to haul people and gear and they float in water.

I am 68 and walk everywhere, after I am within a mile of the hunting area, when hunting is not an option I walk between 2-4 miles three days a week, and swim a mile ( Indoors in winter) you will feel much better and live longer.

Get one with shaft drive not belt. Polaris and suzuki and some yamahas use belt drive. Belt gets wet it wont go till it's dry. Honda is the best.

Why an ATV? Why not a UTV. They're now making them in smaller 400 sizes that should fit your bill. Check out the various makes and models on the internet. they're are some great discounts out there right now. It sounds to me like a few of the prior respondents are dealers for Polaris.

As nice as the polaris is, I would stay away from them. They can just be unreliable sometimes. Unfortunatly I'v had nothing but bad luck with them

I would go with a UTV. Try the Polaris Ranger 6X6. They will haul a load. Last month not once but twice I went cross country and loaded a whole moose (skinned and quartered)and three people and drove out to the nearest trail. Great machines, no problems at all with belts.
