Q:
I am looking to buy a new camp stove and I want to get a Coleman. I have always used the duel fuel stoves and love them, but they are harder to find and more expensive. I was able to find a two burner one and was wondering if I should stick with the duel fuel or switch to propane. My lantern is also duel fuel and it would be nice to only have to take one type of fuel. What is your oppinion?

buckeye - I am in the same situation. I also have a dual fuel lantern and am looking for a new stove. Nice thing about propane is that it burns hotter. The propane cannisters are also convenient. Just not sure how long a cannister lasts. Anyone have some experience?

I prefer the dual fuel. Propane is convenient, but it is only less expensive if you finish every canister. I used to have a propane stove and every time I would go out, I would take a full canister because I was afraid of running out and didn't want to haul around two canisters. The result is at the end of the year, I had a ton of half full canisters. You eventually get around to using them, but it is a pain. Dual fuel also works much better in the cold, if that is an issue for you.

I've got a 2 burner propane because I couldn't afford another Campstove at the time, I've been very impressed w/it. The bottles last a long time too. 3 buddies and I cooked on mine for 4 days and only used 1 bottle. Not bad. It's a Brinkman, stainless, and folds up to the size of a small briefcase.

Go with the duel fuel and only use white gas in it unless you are in dire straights. Get an alum. fuel bottle that is big enough to load up your lantern and stove for the time you normally camp and leave the white gas gallon container at home. That said, I have a propane lantern and love the convenience and like it for kids because of the added safety factor, but I hate to have 3-4 nearly empty containers of fuel that I have to lug around and store.

Coleman grill/stove with a propane canister. I bought one when they first came out, and have never had a problem. When the propane can runs out, just screw on a new can.
