Q:
Just bought a F&S tent and did a test set-up at home. When I was rolling the tent back up, I noticed a thin layer of whitish plastic peeling away from the tarp/bottom of the tent? Doesn't seem normal, but I wasn't sure if this was just a protective coating put on during manufacturing. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Doesn't sound right to me.
Must be your waterproofing coming off. I'd either take it back or just go over it with more waterproofing.
Sounds like a protective coating, I'd still call the maker and ask just to be sure. Was the plastic coming off in pieces or in one whole piece the same size as the bottom?
sounds like degraded urethane is peeling away from the nylon which is not good. if the tent walls sort of stuck together slightly and the coating peeled away when you separated the fabric, then it was stored improperly and caused the urethane to break down. That's normal in an old tent, but definitely not a new one. take it back and get a different tent.
