Q:
My wife and I are looking to buy a new tent for summer camping. We want to spend around 150-200 bucks. It's just the two of us but we want a bit of room to move around and store our gear...what do all of you use? Any suggestions?

I like Colemans new tents with the hinged working door (D door) amd Swiss Army tents. Swiss army tents have put a lot of thought into summer tent design. The ones I own have great circulation vents sewn where needed. My Swiss Army 10x10 has a 12 inch vent sewn into the bottom of the walls and covered by an adjustable rainproof flap. The flap can be held wide open for lots of circulation and will still be water proofed or if it gets cold the flap can be closed so that only the roof or window vents circulate fresh air. By far the best summer tent I've own has to be the Swiss Army tent, a 9 out of 10 if I were grading.

Eureka and Coleman are a really good strong tents. I still have mine and used themon many trips out west. Wait till the stores have them set up if you can and find the dimensions that suit you. Kelty's work well if you are planning on backpacking. With tents you pay more for less weight

I would have to agree with Cgull, Swiss Army Tents, I have used them for year they stand up to the weather, and if stored properly, (cleaned after use) they can last for some time.

i like kelty they make a great tent but it cost about $250 but ill promise you, you will never get wet in it. its a very good backpacking tent, light weight, the most water proof tent ive ever seen, and very strong.

I like a bigger tent too. One thing that would help the decision is, are you going to be carrying this around on your pack or just taking it out of the car.

For packing, I have an REI half-dome. Packs to a small, light size. If I was camp-grounding, I like the Wenger (swiss army) type.

Check out the CampMor web site. They are currently having a sale. Coleman and Wenzel will have nice tenst in your price range. My wife and I bough a Wenzel Savannah model several years ago through them. It is a well made heavy duty tent that has stood up well.

For packing I use a bivi or a tarp, same for my wife. (Not many places to pitch a tent where we hike.) Otherwise we use a Big Agnes 2 person 3 season. picked up from Sportsmen's Warehouse. About 3.5 lbs and $150. We are both pushing 50yrs.
