Q:
Well it appears I am in the market for a folding pocket knife again...as usual. I'm looking for something with a pocket clip and a linerlock. No spring asissts. Any ideas? Price range near or under 40 bucks.

Walmart has some awesome Gerbers for $30 and under in the case in the sporting goods section. Gerber knives are all I'll use.

Look at columbia river knife and tool, I bought one of their knives about a year ago and I've only had to sharpen it once, good quality knife for a good price

I personally have a spyderco, and advocate their knives to no end. I do know they have a series out that is like around $35 bucks. I have not owned one of these, but if their quality is anything like the rest of spyderco's knives, then they are very worth it. Other than that, I would say CRKT.
I personally would tend to stay away from Gerber, as I have not had any good experiences with them, and a number of bad ones, but that is just me.

I have a scar on my knuckle from a spyderco folder failing and closing on my knuckle and would recommend a buck lite, over them for a work folder. I also enjoy folding razorblade folders for utility knives. Cheers.

AJMcClure: what knife was it? was it recently or a while back? I know that they have previously had some not too great knives, we have a few of them. (solid rust now)
but I would really be shocked if one of their semi-newer ones, i.e. H1 steel, were that bad quality. I am very interested to hear more.

I love my Kershaw 1650 Vapor II designed by Ken Onion but I have no idea how much they cost as my wife won it at last spring's trout unlimited banquet. It has held up to incredible abuse and has maintained an edge even when misused opening boxes and other activities that normally dull a knife quickly.

I've been using a Buck Vantage now for 2 years and it has been awesome. It's $30 and worth twice that in my opinion.

Kershaw O-so-sweet. I have had mine for over a year now. I have had to sharpen it a few times as i open a lot of packaging with it. Great knife for a great price! I spent around 30.00 but have seen them recently on Amazon for around 20.00.
