go to rapala .com and they have great knifes
If you are talking about filet knives Rapala does make good knives that are easily resharpened and the prices vary but they are affordale. As far as other knives I would not recomend a blade that is not high carbon, unless you go with one of the new metals, that is what makes them easy to resharpen. I have the Bell & Carlson Gerber Gator it is a great knife and cost about $85.00.
If you want a great knife, make sure that is a high carbon steel, long life and easily sharpened and tough. My old friend gave me German knife of high carbon steel a couple of weeks before he died. He had used it a long time and I've used it for a long time and I hope that my son will use it as well.
Get a Hartford made Case off eBay that requires two hands to open. If you are wondering why reads DEP's most recent blog. Cost is $30-$75 usually.
I dont know if it is carbon steel or not but I absolutly love my Cutco hunting knife. The thing stays sharper then heck and the serated models only cost 6 bucks to have them sent in and re-sharpened by the factory..just figured I would share...
Oh sorry, it was around 130 $ I think, but definetly worth it for a knife that will stay with you for a lifetime
A straight high carbon steel knife requires more care since it can easily corrode, but a good one will sharpen up real nice. If you want something more corrosion resistant then you might be thinking stainless steel, but SS knives are also high carbon.
The choices seem endless. Best place to start is identifying what are you will use it for - big/small game hunting, fishing, general purpose, pocket knife? Would you prefer a fixed blade or folder? Any particular price range?
Not sure how much you want to find out about knife steels but, if you are interested, check this site out:

What I'd do if your no into getting one knife is buy the pack of them from rapala.com there's like 30 knives in there and there not to expensive.
If it's a filet knife; Then get a Rapala. It's a no -brainer!
Rapala makes a great affordable knife that can be resharpened very easily, i have used mine for many years and i have never had a reason to complain.
